Anna from Unicef Ireland visited Scoil Mhuire recently to speak about the work they had been doing in the Philippines following on from the recent devastating typhoons. Anna showed us some pictures of the total devastation that had been inflicted on some of the poorest areas of the collection of islands. She also talked about some of the children who had been orphaned and who had been helped by Unicef and other charities.

Anna was presented with a cheque for €500 from the children of 6th class to aid in their efforts. The money had been collected from sales of teas and coffees at our recent Cake Sale. We received a letter of thanks from Peter Power, the Executive Director of Unicef Ireland, thanking us for our generous contribution.
