Children from Scoil Mhuire experienced contrasting emotions in the space of an hour in Tymon Park on Tuesday last.
Our girls’ camogie team created history when they became the first girls’ team to reach a cumann na mbunscol final in the 30 year history of Scoil Mhuire. After losing their first match back in March, the girls have gone from strength to strength under the guidance of Ms Ryan and Ms Lowry.
In Tuesday’s semi, Scoil Mhuire proved too strong for a battling Scoil Santain and ran out comfortable winners by 3-2 to 0-0. In a brilliant team performance, it would be unfair to single out any individuals.
The girls now have less than two weeks to prepare for the final which will be played in Croke Park on Monday June 9th at 1.45pm.
Less than an hour later. our boys’ senior hurlers fell to their knees in despair when the final whistle sounded at the end of their semi final. After a titanic battle, Scoil Mhuire went down to a very talented Scoil Mológa after extra time by 2-5 to 1-4 . The teams had finished level at 1-3 each after normal time
but the exertions of the previous day’s sixth class tour probably told on our heroes, who never gave up. Have a look at our slideshow of photos below.

We hope to bring plenty of supporters to Croke Park to cheer on the girls .
Details shortly.
