On Thursday last, the 28th of April, four Scoil Mhuire students from Ms Dillon’s 4th class travelled in to the RDS in Dublin to compete in the National Finals for Scratch programming. Noah & Luke and Ellen & Teresa’s projects were showcased along with approximately 30 others at the Tech Week event in the RDS. Both projects had been chosen from over 800 projects to progress to the National Finals. Although neither group was successful in their category (2nd to 4th class) they had a great day listening to presentations, exploring gadgets like virtual reality and presenting their projects to the hundreds of interested event goers who came over to their stands to try them out.
The children can be really proud of themselves for making it through to a National Final and hopefully they will continue to develop their computer programming skills. You can try out Scratch for yourself on their website here: http://scratch.mit.edu
