The final of our now annual talent show, Scoil Mhuire’s Got Talent’ was held in the school hall on Friday last. The show was organised by a group from 6th class and presented by Jessica and Lauryn.

The whole process began a week before when two days of auditions were held, which saw 60 acts strut their stuff in front of the committee. 16 acts were chosen from those 60 to go forward to the final. Ellie from 5th class started the show with a song, Hannah from 4th Class followed her with a reel. Rosanna sung next followed by Maebh and Clodagh performing some modern tunes on Irish instruments (the tin whistle and box accordian). Holly from 3rd sang a song, last year’s co-winner Khafu performed a hip-hop dance that he arranged himself. Mark sang to a backing track of ‘High Hopes’. Aine played the concertina, Sinead sang brilliantly as did Cian. Abby danced her own high tempo dance to ‘Timber’. Laura played keyboard, while Diarmaid played keyboard and sung. Giorgia sang a song in her native Italian. Christine played drums while Killian sang along and did some gymnastics. Erica and Lisa also played keyboard and sang and closed the show.

The standard was really high and the judging panel (made up of six 6th class students, along with Mr. Ellis and Ms. Jones) had a really difficult time making their decisions. Cian from 6th class was awarded ‘runner-up’ with his performance of ‘Hall of Fame’. The deserved winner was Abby from 6th class who did a superb dance to ‘Timber’. Congratulations to all who took part and well done to our winners. Check out the photos below.
