Our girls’ gaelic football team fought valiantly yesterday in Croke Park, but sadly victory was not to be. In beautiful October sunshine hopes were high as parents, grandparents, staff and over 150 children took their seats in the Cusack stand to cheer on the team.
We started brightly with attacks bearing down on Rolestown’s goalmouth, but they had a matchwinner in their full back who stopped our onslaught on more than one occasion throughout the game. If the stats were published for the match we possibly would have had more than 50% possession, but it was scores on the board which we couldn’t produce. And if points were given out for bravery and a never say die attitude, we would certainly have come out on top.
The team didn’t let us down on the day. We are very proud of their commitment throughout the season. They are an example to all of the younger children in the school and a credit to their families.
