Dates for your diary!
As a means of both socialising and fundraising we are organising a TABLE QUIZ. In the past these have always been well supported and more importantly a lot of fun, so come along and exercise those brain cells
Friday 1st April
8.30pm
In Lucan Sarsfields GAA.
Tables of 4 €20.
We are also looking for some spot prizes for a raffle on the night. If anyone is in a position to donate or locate a prize please give it to a committee member or drop it into the school. Back by popular demand & up for grabs on the night will be homework passes too. So come along for a night of fun.
Our thanks in advance go to Mr Egan & Mr Ellis for very kindly offering to be quizmasters for the night.
Bring and browse
Following on from previous successful cake sales we’ve earmarked Friday 27th May for this years big bake sale! We’ll be looking for donations of cakes & also books you no longer require. Maybe you could bring a book and buy a book! Again due to the interest in the second-hand uniforms last we plan to organise a stall again this year. If you wish to donate items of uniform in good condition we’ll be organising drop off dates in May. More details will follow after Easter.
Calendars
Due to the busy time (& bad weather) before Christmas it proved very difficult to organise photos & printing of the traditional class calendar. At the request of a number of parents we now have them ready & waiting in the school. So although it’s March, if you would like to purchase your child’s class photo/calendar please send in the money to their teacher. They cost €3 (max charge of €6 for a family)
Money raised so far
The bag packing in Marks & Spencer’s raised €988.
The non uniform day was a great success & monies are still being counted. We are well on the way to getting the defibrillator for the school.
Chris Bolger is still busy with his guitar lessons on a Wednesday night and all money from these go straight into the fundraising a/c. Thanks again Chris for giving so generously of your time.
New library books were purchased recently and are stamped & about to be covered, the Parents Association made a contribution towards the costs.
Suggestion box
The committee would love to hear of ideas or suggestions that you may
have for ventures that will help the whole school community, (parents pupils & staff) We have a suggestion box outside Mr Thynne’s office that would love to be filled!

Below is list of the current members of the Parents Association. We are here to represent all the parents & to work in conjunction with Mr Thynne, the teachers & the Board of Management for the good of the school. We are lucky to have representatives from every year too.

Don’t forget we are here to help you. Every parent is by right a member of the association. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month. If you are not in a position to join the committee but would like to help out with book covering or teas etc give us your name for our helpers list!
Local Business Network
We would like to compile a list of business operated by the parents & friends of Scoil Mhuire. Who better to ring when you need a plumber or an electrician, than some one from the area. Or when you need those school trousers shortened for September it’d be great to have the details of a local tailor/seamstress who does alterations. So if you are interested in advertising in our free booklet, please return some details to use, name, phone no. business, website (if you have one) and a short job description.
Questionnaire
The Parents Association have a questionnaire posted on the school website. If you have a spare few minutes please log on & fill it out. It will help us address your needs better if we can. If you don’t have internet access, you may request a paper copy to fill out and return, names you do not wish to do so.
Thank you!
Don’t forget we can’t spell success without U!
So thank you for all your support in the past, & we look forward to seeing you on April 1st at our Quiz night in Lucan Sarsfields GAA.
I have a suggestion for an event for the children.
Astronomy Ireland offer an educational program where they come in to the school and talk to the children. I think it would be very enjoyable. I don’t know what sort of cost would be involved though.
