156 boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class took park in our annual mini leagues which were staged over the past two weeks. To the children , these leagues are like all Ireland finals, and they play their hearts out to try to win for their team. Children of all abilities take part and while some already play lots of sport in gaelic, soccer, rugby or cricket clubs, for the majority it can be a trip outside their comfort zone, but one which is well worth taking. 8 past pupils came back to help out with refereeing the matches. it is wonderful to see these young men coming back to put something back into the school. To Brendan, Mark, the two Charlies, Dylan, Stephen , and Philip, we say thank you very much.
The blitz stages of the leagues were held on the Lucan United pitches, while the finals were played in Scoil Mhuire’s very own stadium! Lots of classes came out to lend their support and to add to the atmosphere . Well done to everyone who took part.
