Our junior hurlers had a great start to their campaign when they overcame a very brave Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada in Lucan Sarsfields on Monday.
After a slow start, Scoil Mhuire gradually got on top thanks to some classy stickwork by the two Charlies-Keher and Casely. They were ably supported by Kingsley Okakpu and Jack Butler, whose physical strength in midfield was crucial. After the disappointment of Croke Park, this was a timely tonic as many of our juniors had featured in the Sciath Uí Néill final. Apart from those mentioned, this was a big day for five third class boys who were winning their first Scoil Mhuire “caps”. Dean White was outstanding , Cian Buckley got his first ever hurling goal for the school, while Luke Finnerty displayed some lovely skills when he moved outfield late on.
