Scoil Mhuire 7-3 Scoil Chrónáin 4-3 (29/09/2015)
The Scoil Mhuire lads continued their winning ways in Rathcoole Park against Scoil Chrónáin yesterday afternoon. The sun was shining and both sides played free flowing football to match the conditions. The Scoil Mhuire boys were slow to start again this week and Scoil Chrónáin took advantage to race into a one point lead. This was the wake up call Scoil Mhuire needed and they scored 3-2 without reply. However, the lads fell asleep before half time and only led by a goal going into the break. Half time came at a good time for the lads as Scoil Chrónáin were rallying and the Scoil Mhuire boys composed themselves and went out ready for battle.
The Scoil Mhuire lads opened up a six point lead after an excellent team move ended up with a goal from in form corner forward Alex Turley. The Lucan lads seemed to be flying but within a matter of moments they were level after two goals from the Rathcoole outfit. This was a reminder to Scoil Mhuire that they would have to dig deep if they were to walk out of Rathcoole Park with a win. Mr. Kirwan and Mr. Neylon complimented the lads’ character last week and they showed bundles of it after conceding those two goals. Players like Charlie Byrne, Daniel Kane, Max Hennessy, Robert Keher, Robert Mc Donnell, James Foley and Fionn Buckley all led by example to win dirty ball, make key runs and keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Scoil Mhuire peppered the Scoil Chrónáin goal with shots in the last few minutes and only for some brave defending and outstanding saves the winning margin could have been more.
Well done to all the lads. The new members of the squad (Alex O’Toole, Liam Dunphy, Matthew O’Reilly and Edward Nabulele) made a huge difference and really impressed Mr. Kirwan and Mr. Neylon.
A special mention to Alex Turley and Seán Treanor who stood out in attack and defence respectively.
***Training Friday at breaktime.
