Scoil Mhuire 3-8
Gaelscoil Naomh PƔdraig 2-3
The Junior boys continued their terrific run with their third win on the trot. Scoil Mhuire made a blistering start to the game with two early points from Charlie Keher and Cian Buckley, both scored from difficult angles. The match slowed briefly as Gaelscoil NP tried desperately to get back into the match but the door to our goal was shut firmly by the likes of Philip Kane & Lachlan Hill. It took a counter account goal from Cian Buckley to calm Scoil Mhuire nerves and our lads began to dominate the possession and scoring with Luke Finnerty, Brendan Ruddy along with first time scorers Charlie Caseley and Harry Day adding points. Brendan Ruddy added another goal to give us a comfortable lead going in to half time of 2-6 to 0-1.
Naomh Padraig came back onto the pitch for the second half with a new fire in their bellies and quickly began to reduce the deficit with a fine point. The game began to ebb and flow for the next few minutes until GNP grabbed two goals in the space of just two minutes; suddenly it was game on, 2-6 to 2-2. However this spurred our lads into action and we responded immediately with captain fantastic, Cian Buckley, grabbing our third goal. This was followed with magnificent points from Mark Gormley and Brendan Ruddy. GNP grabbed a late consolation but it was too little too late for them as we ran out winners.
A special mention for our debutants – Jake Lynam and Aaron Fitzpatrick who played very well in the first outing for the school. Next week sees the top of the table clash between ourselves and Scoil Lorcain of Palmerston. Both teams remain unbeaten after three games and the result of this match will ultimately determine who will win the league.
