It is with great sadness that I inform you of the recent sudden death of the Chairperson of our Board of Management, Jack Butler. Jack was in his third term as Chairperson and has had a long connection with Scoil Mhuire going back to 1996 when he and Anne enrolled their eldest child, Aoife in Junior Infants. Jack was always generous with his time in relation to Scoil Mhuire and was heavily involved in the planning and design of the new school extension and refurbishment of the old school, a huge undertaking going back to the late noughties.

Jack not only oversaw the physical expansion of Scoil Mhuire, but also the increase in pupil numbers and staff in the last 10 years. He was always very supportive of new ventures, particularly anything to do with children with additional needs. He will be a huge loss to the school community, but this pales into insignificance with the pain and loss being suffered by Anne, Aoife, Seán, Sarah, Jack’s parents and siblings. We offer them our sympathies and prayers at this difficult time.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
