Healthy Eating Fortnight which was held from September 15th – Friday 27th was a great success in Scoil Mhuire.
The objective of this was to increase the children’s awareness of the importance of diet, exercise, safety and anything that will improve their wellbeing. The Art around the school was testament to the work the teacher’s were doing highlighting the importance of healthy lunches, ‘five a day’ and daily exercise.
Junior infants learned about the importance of hand washing and the need for good hygiene was highlighted in all classes.
Classes studied the food pyramid and produced lovely art , poems and writing about the topic.
The fortnight ended on Friday 27th with a spectacular food tasting event in the hall organised by the Parents Association.
Well done and thanks to all involved! Many children sampled different types of fruit for the first time!
