Scoil Mhuire 0-8
Scoil Olaf 0-7
With ten minutes to go in this Sciath an Chladaigh quarter final, Scoil Mhuire looked dead and buried. Trailing by a point, facing into a stiff breeze and finding possession hard to come by, it looked as if the most the Lucan girls could hope for was a narrow defeat. However, inspired by a heroic defensive display by Niamh Mc Clelland, Scoil Mhuire began a fightback which saw them dominate the last ten minutes and run out deserving winners over a gallant Scoil Olaf. Shannon Byrne drove her teammates on from midfield with some great runs and she was ably assisted by Ella Foster, Sarah Lovett and Frances Winter. Up front, Christine Okakpu soared into the clouds to make an unbelievable catch and Clodagh Mc Donnell never stopped working . Niamh Roche also battled heroically and made some great block-downs. However it was the inspired introduction of Katie Hickey which proved the key moment as she struck over a beautiful point from the right wing, to send the fans wild with excitement . This turned out to be the winning point and the girls can now look forward to a semi final meeting next week against either Perrystown or Brackenstown.
