Scoil Thomáis, Castleknock 4-5

Scoil Mhuire 0-3

Ignore the scoreline. This was a much closer game than that. Our girls put in an excellent performance on the lovely all-weather surface of St Brigids. Castleknock are the top team in the group but they were made to fight tooth and nail for their victory. This was a great team effort and despite missing a few key players, Scoil Mhuire kept going to the end. Chi Chi Ubaekwe played really well in goal and she was given great protection in defence by Isabella Fay and Hannah Moore. Sophie Mulcahy was outstanding throughout and Carla Delmar was her usual dynamic self. Aoife Woods embarked on her trademark solo runs and was unlucky not to score more than one point. Sinéad Keogh made a brave recovery from injury to score a pointed free and the third point was deservedly scored by player of the match, Katie Wisdom who was brilliant from start to finish. Special mention to Zofia Furmaniak, Chloe Kearns and Evita Obayuwana who also played very well.

Despite this defeat, Scoil Mhuire girls have qualified for the Shield quarter final, by finishing in third place in the group. Their opponents will most likely be St Patrick’s Corduff, next Wednesday, October 17th at a venue to be confirmed.
