Our senior boys’ gaelic team got off to a flying start against Huntstown last Thursday in Airlie Heights. It was an excellent game with only one point separating the teams at the final whistle. Best on the day were Shane Wynne, Matthew O’Reilly, Gareth McDonnell, Calum Byrne and Max Hennessy. The boys will be busy this week playing Gaelscoil Naomh Pádraig on Monday and Scoil Lorcáin on Thursday. Best of luck to all involved! Anyone from 5th and 6th class who wish to play should attend training every Tuesday at lunch.

Our girls’ team have had a mixed start to their season with a loss on day one and a victory last Wednesday. The girls were narrowly defeated by Scoil Treasa in a great game of football. They were bitterly disappointed but showed great character to bounce back with a 3-9 to 1-3 win against Holy Spirit, Greenhills in front of a big crowd in Scoil Mhuire. Star performers over the two games were Tegan Kelleher, Niamh Roche, Sarah O’Connor, Lara O’Reilly and Gracious Momoh.

It’s great to see plenty of new faces playing gaelic football this year with our junior football team. They have played two games to date and although they were beaten on both occasions, the lads put in great performances and really impressed new coach Mr. Ryan. Stand out performers to date have been Seán Doran, Craig Duffy, Zach McBride, Aaron Geoghegan, Adam Harrington and Jamie Harrington. Anyone from 3rd and 4th class who wish to play should attend training every Thursday at lunch.
