Our junior team played their first match of the season in Lucan Sarsfields on Tuesday 10th September.
Despite leading at half time , Scoil Mhuire were eventually well beaten by an excellent Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin team by 15 points to 7. This was a very encouraging performance by Scoil Mhuire. Many of the boys were winning their first “cap ” and they did themselves and their school proud.
Eoin Mahony and Seán Nulty were heroic in goal. Stephen McInerney and James Kebana battled bravely in defence and Ben O’Toole displayed some lovely skills . Up front Evan Wynne had some skilful touches and showed great promise.
After each game this year we will be picking an outstanding individual performance . On TG4 they have a nice title for the player who is considered to have made a great contribution during the game.
They call it “Laoch na hImeartha”, which translates as “Warrior or Hero of the game”.
This week’s laoch na himeartha is Dylan Byrne who had a mighty game from start to finish .
***A special word of thanks to the parents who helped to move the goalposts. Much appreciated.
On this Friday (13th!) our senior football team will take part in the annual Lucan Sarsfields inter schools’blitz.
It starts at 3pm on Friday and will finish between 5 and 5.30pm.
