St Peter and Paul NS Baldoyle 6-5
Scoil Mhuire 0-5
The scoreline reflects the superiority of the Baldoyle boys in the quarter final of the Senior Football Competition but it does not tell the story of the heroic battle put up by the Lucan boys. Facing much bigger and stronger opponents, Scoil Mhuire never gave up, even when they were facing an impossible task at half time. Having played with the wind, Scoil Mhuire found themselves three goals behind. But instead of dropping their heads, they fought tooth and nail and finished the game with a few wonderful points. To have reached the quarter final was a great achievement in itself and the boys also won the “B” final in the Lucan Sarsfields blitz in September. While this is the end of their Scoil Mhuire Gaelic Football career for the 6th class boys, , most of them will be back in action with hurleys, helmets and sliotars in the spring. Our 4th and 5th class boys will be there too and they are already looking forward to next year.
Special mention yesterday goes to Captain Jack Butler, who led from the front; to Charlie Keher , who covered every blade of grass on the pitch; to Jack Colgan and Liam Masterson who kept battling to the end; and to Philip Kane for his skill and bravery, while marking a very good and strong opponent.
Well done to all the boys. Scoil Mhuire is very proud of you.
