Gaelscoil na Camóige 4-1
Scoil Mhuire 2-0
Like the boys, the previous day, it was a case of so close and yet so far for the girls who were bidding to become the first girls’ team from Scoil Mhuire to reach a Cumann na mBunscol final.
Each player left everything on the pitch. The only difference between the teams was that little bit of luck in front of goal that you need .
On a really warm day, we trailed by two goals at half time and a couple of great goal chances for our girls just scraped past the post.
Despite scoring two second half goals we just couldn’t close the gap as the Clondalkin girls managed to break away for a few vital scores.
Katie Wisdom played really well in goal and her puck outs were great.
In defence, Sinead Keogh, Isabella Fay , Sarah Cramp, Erris Smith and Iris Ruddy were excellent. Erica O’Reilly just would not give up at midfield. In attack, Jessica, Naomi, Chi Chi, Eva, Eyum and Aoife battled bravely.
Carla Delmar, as she has been all year, was outstanding. Her skill and determination stood out and she was player of the match by a mile.
The girls had played four tough matches the previous evening in the Lucan Sarsfields blitz, where they performed magnificently to reach the A final.
Well done to all the girls on a great season.
Thank you to the parents who provided fantastic support.
And a big thank you to Ms Ryan and Ms Lowry who put a huge amount of time and effort into preparing the girls.
Their level of improvement was there for all to see.
So sad:( well done girls!!
