Scoil Mhuire – 6
Mary Queen of Angel’s, Ballyfermot – 1
This is Scoil Mhuire’s first year to have a soccer team and the lads have outdone themselves by making the FAI Pegasus cup final at the first attempt.
Scoil Mhuire put in their best performance of the year in this semi-final and dominated the game from start to finish. The Airlie Heights boys took an early lead when Joey O’Sullivan raced clear of the defence to neatly place the ball past the helpless keeper.
The lead was soon doubled when Evan Colgan got on the end of a lovely through ball to lob the keeper from the edge of the box. Sami Clarke added a third just before the break to give Scoil Mhuire a well-deserved 3-0 lead at half time.
The back four of Aryan Rawat, Benji Ubaekwe, Reece Lamphiere and Daniel Nulty are now known as the great wall of Airlie Heights after their colossal performace in the first half. The lads were well marshalled by our super keeper Eoin Harrington who was as safe as ever. This was matched by the tireless work of Toby Nndozie and Luke Cahill in midfield and the creativity of the brilliant Anthony Nkosi.
The Ballyfermot outfit grabbed a goal early in the second half to give our lads a wakeup call but their response was brilliant with Evan Colgan grabbing a second and man of the match Joey O’Sullivan bagging two more goals to complete his hat trick.
Alex Hickey, Titas Dubinskas, Nathan Weafer-McGovern and Evan Wynne all came off the bench and made a real impact to put pressure on Mr. Kirwan to pick a starting 11 for the final.
Well done to all involved and thanks to those who came to support.
