The last round of fixtures saw some thrilling games as teams battled for a place in the finals or to avoid relegation.
In the boys’ league The Ultimate Team have qualified for the final after going through the league unbeaten. In the final, their opponents will be The Batmen. The two teams met in a dress rehearsal for the final with the Ultimates winning well . However, The Batmen may have been taking it easy as they conserved their energy for the final.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: RYAN O DOWD
The Capital G’s and the Lucan Heat played out a thrilling draw. The Heat signed Fionn Buckley from 3rd class just before the transfer deadline and he played a big part in helping his team to a share of the spoils. This was the first time the Heat had avoided defeat it set them up nicely for a local derby relegation clash with Lucan Lakers.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH:CHARLIE CASELEY
Capital G’s had a double header at lunch time and they put it up to the league leaders for long stretches before the Ultimates pulled away in the end.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH:CONALL CHAMBERS
In the clash of the “Lucan” teams, it was the Lakers who emerged with the bragging rights as they claimed their first win with a narrow margin to spare over the Heat.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: JAMES KEBANA
The final boys’ game between the Lakers and Untitled produced the most thrilling finish of the tournament when the Lakers snatched a draw with a basket which was scored just as the final whistle sounded.

In the girls’ league we had the fastest basket of the league with The Cookie Monsters scoring after six seconds . However a great comeback from the Jaw Breakers was enough to claim the winning points.

The Crazy Basketeers maintained their winning form with a great victory over Hunger.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: SINÉAD KEOGH
In the last girls’ match, the Jelly Babies maintsained their 100% record with a hard fought win over the Funky Monkeys.

Jelly Babies have qualified for the final. In the final they will play either Crazy Basketeers or Jaw Breakers who have tied for second place . There will be a shoot -out between these two teams to see who qualifies to meet the “Babies ” in the final.
Well done to all the boys and girls who took part in the leagues. A special word of praise to all those who gave it a bash even though sport may not be “their thing”. Well done to to everybody who kept turning up for their matches even when they knew they could not win the league.
