Things are really hotting up in the Basketball leagues. Week 3 saw a few shock results and a record score .
BOYS’ LEAGUE
Adidas BC remain unbeaten but they were put to the pin of their collar by The Magic Michaels, for whom Umer scored a wonder basket. Alex Porumb led his team brilliantly and he was ably assisted by Toby and Aryan. In game 2, LJMJJ set a new record for the Scoil Mhuire basketball leagues when they scored 12 baskets (24 points) to defeat a brave Ultimate 7 team, who still remain very much in the hunt for the title. This was a devastating team performance with the height of Benji, the speed of Joey and the cleverness of the rest of Luke Barbour’s team , proving too much for Ben’s battlers.
In the third boys’ match CBCEFR proved just too strong for The Bulldogs in a thrilling match, eventually winning 6-4. Nathan Weafer was in top form for the winners and Anthony was back on song with his shooting.

GIRLS’ LEAGUE
There was almost a call put out for the fire brigade in the first of the two girls’matches. This was because Katie Hickey was on fire for the Balling Champs with some brilliant shooting. This helped her team to victory over The Super Women, for whom Christine Okakpu was outstanding.
In the second game , the Jelly Tots lost their unbeaten record to The Sugar Doughnuts. (There is no truth in the rumour that these teams are being sponsored by Scoil Mhuire’s healthy eating policy!) With Niamh McClelland recovering from illness, The Doughnuts were deserving winners in a very good game.
