SPORT
This term has been very busy with the indoor football and basketball leagues taking place for Senior Classes and with our boys and girls hurling and camogie teams flying the flag for Scoil Mhuire in the Cumann na mBunscol competitions. Our junior hurlers won 3 out 5 matches and have improved in leaps and bounds, with many of them playing for Lucan Sarsfields. Our camogie team has qualified for the semi final of their competition and this will be played after Easter.
Our School Sports Day will take place on Thursday, June 2nd
Santry Sports takes place on Tuesday, June 7th. Trials will be held after Easter.
School Library
The Parents’ Association recently provided €1,000 for the purchase of new books for the school library. Ms Ní Núnáin purchased the books and she received great help from the Parents’ Association to cover the books.
School Extension
If everything goes according to plan, it is envisaged that work on our new extension will commence during the summer holidays. We are currently waiting on approval for putting the work out to tender. We will keep you informed of developments.
Parties
Children who are having birthday parties should not distribute invitations in the class.
Some Don’ts on the School Grounds.
Scoil Mhuire is a no-smoking establishment. This includes the school building and school grounds. We would appreciate if you do not bring dogs into the school grounds at any time. Please co-operate with us in these areas
MOBILE PHONES.
It is school policy that children should not bring mobile phones into school. Thank you for your co-operation in this regard. If there are exceptional circumstances, please contact your child’s teacher.
However we are encouraging children to bring in old / used mobile phones. These phones are then donated to the Meningitis Research Foundation. For every phone brought in, the school gets €3.50. To date we have collected over 400 phones so thank you very much and keep them coming.
TESCO VOUCHERS.
If you happen to be shopping in Tesco, please take the Tesco Vouchers which we are collecting in the school.
TROCAIRE BOXES.
Please send your Trocaire boxes into school as soon as possible after the Easter Holidays.
