A couple of week’s ago Ms Nugent’s class went on a visit to Kilmaiham Gaol. We learned all about the leader’s of 1916 and the time they spend in the Gaol. We saw the chapel where Joseph Plunkett and Grace Gifford married and saw the cell where Grace was later imprisoned during the War of Independence. We also learned about the history of the Gaol. They used to hang people right outside the main entrance to the prison. The youngest prisoner ever sentenced to Kilmainham Gaol was just 5 years old. Have a look at some of our photos.
