Junior Girls Gaelic Football Season

Junior Girls Gaelic Football Season Report

Hello everyone,

We’ve had a really exciting junior girls Gaelic football season.

Our first game was against Sacred Heart.
We lost that day, but it was our very first time playing together. For many of us, it was our first ever Gaelic football match, and we learned so much from it.

Our second game was at home against Gaelscoil Cluain Dolcáin.
We lost again, but we played much better than in our first game. Our teamwork and confidence really started to show. A big thank you to everyone who came out to support us.

Our third game was against Scoil Áine.
This was a special one! We were behind for most of the game, but we never gave up. In the final five minutes, we came back and won by a goal. It showed the true spirit of our team.

Our final two games were against Gaelscoil Naomh Pádraig and Scoil Eiscir Riada, both home games with a fantastic turn out for both games, from parents and schoolmates alike. Unfortunately, we did not win either of these games but we put up a great fight and could walk off the pitch with our heads held high.

A note from Ms. Shanahan: I cannot believe the difference in this team from their first match to their last one. For most of the girls on this team it was their first time playing football. They showed determination and bravery in sticking with something new and giving it their all. I am so excited to see where this team will go next season! Thank you so much to all the parents and supporters who game out, rain or shine, to cheer us on this season.
