In Scoil Mhuire every child has the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of sports. Each year we form school teams for camogie, hurling and gaelic football and enter in local blitzes and the Cumann na mBunscoil competitions. In addition we are very lucky to have Dublin hurling star, Johnny McCaffrey coming to our school each week to teach hurling to our younger classes.

For athletics, we take part in local cross-country competitions each year and a team goes from to school to represent us in sprints and relays in the Morton Stadium, Santry.

We run internal school basketball leagues for our 5th and 6th class children and coming into the summer we regularly host a range of other schools in a basketball competition.

Every year two class groups get to go over to the swimming pool in Tallaght for a number of weeks for their P.E. class. At various stages during the year we have visiting instructors come to school to teach our children the finer points of gynmastics, rugby, cricket and even skipping! As well as all that the children enjoy a wide variety of sports and games during their regular P.E. classes

Plus don’t forget our annual ‘fun for all’ sports day that takes place every year in June! To find out the latest sports news click here
