Scoil Lorcáin 4-3

Scoil Mhuire finished their season in style with a great win in their last game of the season.
The Lucan boys got off to a flying start and it looked as if they were going to win easily.
However Palmerstown came back strongly before half time and Scoil Mhuire only held a two goal advantage at the break.
With the wind at their backs Scoil Mhuire dominated the second half and ran out worthy winners. Well done to all the boys on another great season.
For the second year in a row we finished in second place in the league.
Most of the junior hurlers also played for the seniors and starred for the senior and junior football teams as well.

Continue reading »]]> The children of Mr. Roche & Ms Reilly’s 6th class went on a walk through Lucan Demesne as part of our Active Week activities. It also doubled as an Art lesson! The children all brought digital cameras with them and took photos of their surroundings. There were some truly stunning shots taken and they can be seen in the gallery below. More will be added as they are brought in.

Carla’s reflection on the walk to the Lucan Demesne: On the 2nd of May Mr Roche’s and Miss Reilly’s classes went on a long walk to the demesne. It was during active week. The day before, our teacher said that we were going on a long walk to the demesne and to bring our cameras to take pictures of nature. When we arrived to school the day we were going on the walk it was a lovely sunny day and we all had our cameras with us. The teacher said to bring our lunch and a football. When we got to the demesne people started taking pictures, there was some really good pictures taken there. We walked right around the demesne and we saw some goats, well we think they were goats! We had a lovely day and I will be going to the demesne more often from now on.

Continue reading »]]> During Active Week, the children from 6th class went for a walk through Lucan Demesne on a beautiful sunny day. As well as being active, the children were also there to practise the great art of photography. In a class lesson prior to the walk the children learned about framing a shot, positioning their subject and using the light. The next blog post will show the children’s wonderful artwork but for now you can see the children in action as photographers below! Enjoy!!

Continue reading »]]> Santry trials were held last week for boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class.
The numbers were whittled down and on this Friday, 10th May, the final trials will be held at lunch break. From these trials, five children will be selected from each age group to represent the school in Santry on May 29th.

Continue reading »]]> Hula hoops are the latest craze to sweep the schoolyard. For the past few months now students from Infants to 6th have been developing their skills and become expert hoopers! In honour of Active Week students from the Junior Classes put on a Hula Hoop-athon in the hall. It was brilliant, check out the pictures below!

Continue reading »]]> On Wednesday May 1st, to celebrate the beginning of the month of Our Lady, Miss Bennett’s 3rd class took a stroll to the Marian Shrine in Dodsboro. The shrine was built in 1954 to celebrate the Marian Year declared by Pope Pius xii. The shrine is now 59 years old. While on our visit to the shrine, we met a local man called Mr Paddy Clerkin. He told us that he paints the railings every year. He also told us that the stonework for the shrine was constructed by Mr Dinny Byrne of Dodsboro. Another interesting piece of information that Mr Clerkin shared with us was that last year some people wanted to have flats built near the statue which would have involved moving the statue of Mary. However the local people, with the help of Minister Frances Fitzgerald prevented this from happening. At 7.30pm every day during the month of May you can go to the shrine and pray the Rosary.
