Last Wednesday, children from 3rd to 6th class once again took to the track (muddy field!) in Griffeen Valley Park for the second event in the South Dublin Schools’ Cross Country competition. Despite being veterans of the event at this stage, there was much excitement and major nerves in the build up to the races. Once again Scoil Mhuire students acquitted themselves well before, during and after the races. A number of children placed in the Top 4 – which can qualify them for the Championship Race on the final race day in May.

In 3rd class Emmet placed 4th in his race. In 4th class Brooke came 2nd with an absolutely flying finish in what was a really fast heat. Adam continued his fine form from the previous meeting coming 4th again in his race with Callum placing just behind him in the same race as he did at the last meeting. Niamh from 5th class also placed 5th for the second meeting in a row. Alex from 5th managed another brilliant result coming in 2nd in his race – being pipped on the line in a sprint finish. Sara from 6th class came in 3rd in her race – pushing herself into the Top 4 for the first time.

Well done to all who took part. It was a very enjoyable day and the weather was great again for us! The next meeting is Wednesday April 5th – hope to see you there!
