Pegasus Cup – 1st Round (Tuesday 7th March, 2017)

St. Dominic’s, Tallaght – 4

Scoil Mhuire – 4

(St. Dominic’s won 3-2 on penalties)

Scoil Mhuire finished last years’ campaign with a four all thriller in the Pegasus Cup final and began this years’ campaign in the same fashion against St. Dominic’s. The only difference is that this years’ Scoil Mhuire side were desperately unlucky to lose.

Scoil Mhuire dominated large parts of a game that must go down as game of the season. The Tallaght side started brightly and capitalised with an early goal when their striker latched onto a through ball to beat the excellent Jamie Hoey.

Our back four of Daniel Kane, Seán Treanor, Aryan Rawat and Kevin Gormley began to find their feet and two goals in quick succession from Alex Turley and a goal of the season contender from Titas Dubinskas put us back in the lead. St. Dominic’s didn’t lie down however, and soon found themselves 4-2 ahead with three goals of their own. Scoil Mhuire still looked the better side despite leaking four goals and got a vital goal back through man of the match Titas Dubinskas after some great work from Harry Watkins, James Foley and Max Hennessey.

Scoil Mhuire put the pressure on Dominic’s in the second half and found an equaliser after Darlington Odia made a lung busting run from midfield to round the keeper and neatly finish to the net.

The fresh legs of Robert Keher, Charlie Byrne, Edward Nabulele, Sam Colclough and Jack Hyland made a massive difference and the Airlie Heights lads were very unlucky not to get a winner.

The game finished four all after extra time and Dominic’s won 3-2 on penalties.

Well done to all the lads involved they should be very proud of their efforts.
