The legal decibel level was probably smashed as over100 excited fans made their voices heard for the 2015 basketball finals. And with a Scoil Mhuire TV crew on hand to capture all the action, the teams didn’t disappoint with two cracking finals.

Girls
Doughnuts 8 Seven Musketeers 4
In a final of high quality and high drama, it looked as though the Doughnuts were going to win comfortably as they raced into an early 4-0 lead, thanks to the sharp shooting of Sarah Porumb. However, the Musketeers lived up to their motto of “All for one and one for All”, as they fought back bravely, inspired by Jade Blake and Rosana Rotaru. Doughnuts proved too strong in the end but they were made to fight all the way by a gallant Musketeers side who battled hard despite the the absence of their inspirational captain, Juliette Borton.
MVP: Sarah Porumb

Boys
Hyper Baskets 6 Forever 21 2
This was another thrilling encounter. If each team had taken even half of their chances, we would have had a record scoreline. It was nip and tuck right from the first whistle. Sami Clarke’s shooting proved the difference in the end, but both sides deserve great credit for providing an exciting, sporting encounter.
MVP: Sami Clarke

Post Match Exhibition
After the excitement of the finals, there was a shoot-out between the 6th class teachers (Mr Neylon and Ms Ryan) and the 5th class teachers (Ms Reilly and Mr Roche). After each teacher had shot and scored three times, it went to sudden death. Two and a half hours later, Mr Egan had to order the teachers to go home as they did not miss a single shot in the sudden death shoot-out and could not be separated.
